Directors serve unpaid. An independent director serves for expenses only, is free of any stake in a certified organization or counterparty, and is unrelated to anyone who holds one. An Advisory Council of researchers and practitioners advises on the Standard in an advisory capacity. A Standards Committee owns the Standard and the complaints procedure.

Disclosures

The founder owns a for-profit company that uses AI in its product. Under the Conflict of Interest Policy, that company may apply for certification like any other, and if it does, the decision is made by the Standards Committee with the founder recused and the recusal recorded on the registry entry. Every party Dropmatch pays or contracts with is independent of its directors. Every director signs an annual conflict statement listing their financial interests, and the statements are kept with the minute book.

How the money moves

  • Every certified company receives one invoice with two lines: a certification fee at the cost of the check, booked as program service revenue, and a water commitment restricted entirely to projects.
  • Restricted water funds are held in a separate account from operating funds. Operations run on the fees and on separate operating donors.
  • Cost per person-year and per liter is published quarterly against the field's best, and the implementer scorecard with it.
  • Directors serve unpaid in year one, and every loan or contract is with an independent party.
